Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 30, 2026

This policy describes how the Flashlight Android application (“the App,” package com.charles.flashlight) handles information when you use it. The App is distributed by the developer behind the Flashlight open-source project on GitHub.

Summary

The App turns your device’s camera LED on and off. It does not require an account. It uses standard mobile services (Google Firebase and Google AdMob) that may collect technical and usage-related data as described below. Torch control happens on your device; the App does not upload your photos or video recordings.

Information the App may access or generate

How we use information

Information processed by the App and its service providers is used to:

Third-party services

The App relies on services operated by Google LLC and affiliates, including but not limited to:

These providers act as independent controllers or processors according to their own terms. Please review Google’s privacy policy and, where shown in the App, any in-product consent or preference flows (such as advertising-related choices offered by Google on your device).

Legal bases (where applicable)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or similar regions, we rely on legitimate interests and, where required, your consent (including consent managed through platform or Google UMP flows when presented) to process personal data for analytics, advertising, and app operation—except where another legal basis applies under local law.

Data retention

Retention of data collected by third-party SDKs is governed by those providers’ policies. The developer does not maintain a separate user database inside the App for account-based profiles.

Security

We rely on platform security and reputable service providers. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; use the App at your own discretion on trusted devices.

Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). If you believe a child has provided personal information through advertising or analytics systems, contact us through the channels below and consider using device-level parental controls.

Your choices

International transfers

Information processed by Google may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your own.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when material updates are posted. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
