Pocket Kin — Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or playing Pocket Kin on an Android phone, Wear OS watch, or other supported device, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the application.

2. Eligibility and Family Use

Pocket Kin is designed for players of all ages, including children and families. If a player is under the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction (e.g., under 13 in the United States or under 16 in certain EU jurisdictions), a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on their behalf.

We enforce parental gates (arithmetic challenges) before any real-money transaction, account management action, or outbound web link to ensure safety and prevent unauthorized child purchases.

3. In-App Purchases and Virtual Items

Pocket Kin offers optional virtual currencies ("Petals"), care supplies, and digital content:

• Consumable items: Petal packs and gourmet treat baskets are consumed through gameplay and are credited immediately upon purchase confirmation.
• Non-consumable items: The Cozy Caretaker Pass (permanent interstitial ad removal, walking bonuses, and cosmetic flair) and storybook decorative room themes remain permanently associated with your Google Play account and can be recovered using the in-game "Restore Purchases" button.
• No cash value: Petals, treats, decorations, and items are virtual game goods with no cash value, cannot be redeemed for real money, and cannot be transferred or traded between players.
• Billing: All financial transactions are processed securely through Google Play Billing (8.0). We do not collect or store your payment card details.

4. Refunds

All in-app purchases are subject to Google Play's standard refund policies. If you or your child made an accidental purchase, you can request a refund directly through the Google Play Store app or by visiting Google Play Support. If you experience technical delivery issues, please reach out to us at support@charleshartmann.com with your Google Play order number (GPA.XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX).

5. Gameplay, Offline Play, and Cloud Saves

Pocket Kin is fully functional in offline mode. Core pet care, growth, mini-games, and companionship are always free and never require an Internet connection or real-world money. If you choose to enable cloud saves, your save revision and pet state are stored securely via Firebase under an anonymous or Google-linked identifier. You can delete your cloud data at any time via Settings → Delete cloud account.

6. Health Connect and Sensor Integrations

Pocket Kin includes optional motivational features: "Walk Together" (step counting via Health Connect or the device sensor) and "Heartbeat Harmony" (heart rate reading on Wear OS watches). These features are provided solely for entertainment and gamified wellness motivation. Pocket Kin is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or health advice. Always consult a qualified physician regarding physical activity and health goals.

7. User Conduct and Fair Play

Pocket Kin is a peaceful, single-player sanctuary game with no multiplayer chat or user-generated public content. You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, exploit, or distribute unauthorized modifications of the application or automated bots that manipulate game progression or billing services.

8. Intellectual Property

All artwork, animations, characters, sound effects, music, visual designs, and software code in Pocket Kin are the exclusive intellectual property of Charles Hartmann, protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. All rights are reserved.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

Pocket Kin is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your access to or use of the application.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms from time to time. When changes occur, we will update the "Last updated" date above and provide notice in the application's release notes where appropriate.
