Everything you need to know about Aria.

Does Aria send my voice or conversations to the cloud?
No. All speech recognition, language model inference, and text-to-speech happen entirely on your device. Your audio is never transmitted to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Which Android devices are supported?
Aria requires Android 8.0 (API 26) or higher. For the best experience — including GPU-accelerated Gemma 4 inference — a device with at least 6 GB RAM is recommended. Pixel 6 and newer phones work especially well.
How much storage does Aria use?
The app itself is around 80 MB. The default Gemma 4 model is approximately 2.5 GB and is downloaded on first launch. The enhanced Gemma E4B model (Premium) is around 4 GB. You can delete unused models from Settings at any time.
Does Aria work without an internet connection?
Yes — voice, AI inference, and translated menus work offline after their models are downloaded. Internet is still used for current web research, model downloads, billing, Firebase technical telemetry, and issue reports you submit.
What diagnostics does Aria collect?
Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring collect app interaction and technical reliability/performance data. They do not receive your voice audio or conversation content. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Why does Aria need accessibility permissions?
The optional Accessibility Service lets Aria interact with other apps on your behalf — for example, "tap the Send button in WhatsApp" or "scroll down in Maps." You grant this permission explicitly in Android Settings; Aria never activates it automatically. This permission is not required for core functionality.
Why does Aria need notification access?
Notification access lets you ask things like "What notification did I just get?" or "Read my last WhatsApp message" hands-free. This is an optional permission — the assistant works without it. Access is only used when you actively ask Aria about your notifications.
Can I cancel my Premium subscription?
Yes. Cancel anytime through the Google Play Store under Subscriptions. You retain access until the end of your billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, in line with Google Play's policies.
Is Aria open source?
Yes. The full source code is available on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 license. Contributions are welcome.
How does battery usage work?
The wake word listener uses OpenWakeWord on the CPU and consumes approximately 2–5% battery per hour depending on your device. GPU inference for responses is only active while Aria is generating a reply. You can disable the wake word in Settings and trigger Aria manually to minimise battery use.
What data does Aria collect for billing?
Premium subscriptions are processed entirely through Google Play Billing. Aria never sees your payment information. The only data we receive is your anonymised Play purchase token confirming subscription status.
