Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Aria application ("App") operated by Charles Hartmann ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using Aria you agree to be bound by these Terms.
By installing or using Aria, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Aria on Android devices that you own or control. The source code is released under the Apache License 2.0 and is available at github.com/chartmann1590/aria-assistant.
You may use Aria for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
Aria requests certain Android permissions (microphone, contacts, SMS, location, etc.) to provide its features. Granting a permission is optional and at your discretion. Revoking a permission in Android Settings will disable the corresponding feature but will not otherwise affect the App. See our Privacy Policy for a full explanation of each permission.
Aria offers optional Premium subscriptions ("Premium") that unlock additional features. Subscriptions are available on a monthly ($2.99/month) or annual ($19.99/year) basis.
All billing is handled by Google Play. By subscribing, you authorise Google to charge the applicable fee to your payment method on file. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Google Play Store (My Apps → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to Premium features until then.
Refunds are handled by Google Play in accordance with Google Play's refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.
We may change subscription pricing at any time. We will notify you via the App or email before any price change takes effect. Continued use after the new price takes effect constitutes acceptance.
Aria uses an on-device large language model (Gemma 4) to generate responses. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for certain situations. You acknowledge that:
Premium features allow Aria to make phone calls and send SMS on your behalf based on your voice commands. You are solely responsible for any calls made or messages sent through Aria from your device. We are not liable for any charges, disputes, or harm arising from such communications.
Aria is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury, arising out of or in connection with your use of Aria, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Charles Hartmann from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of Aria, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Aria at any time if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the App immediately ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including Sections 6, 8, 9, and 10.
Aria incorporates open-source software including, among others: Gemma 4 (Apache 2.0), OpenWakeWord (Apache 2.0), Sherpa-ONNX / Piper TTS (Apache 2.0), ONNX Runtime (MIT), Jetpack Compose (Apache 2.0), Hilt (Apache 2.0), Room (Apache 2.0). License notices are included in the app's About section and in the repository.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Texas.
We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the App's release notes or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Aria after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
