Driftfeed

Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026. Applies to the Driftfeed Android app (package com.hartmannstudios.driftfeed) by Hartmann Studios, and to this website.

Summary

Content you create and AI generation

Driftfeed is text only. It does not generate, upload or display images from the feed, and it does not send your text to any image service.

On-device mode: prompts and generated text stay on your phone. Model files are downloaded once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) when you choose a model; that download is a normal web request that shows your IP address to Hugging Face.

Ollama mode: if you enter an Ollama server address, prompts go only to that server. Whoever runs that server (usually you) controls its logs.

Your profile name, handle, bio, settings and posts are stored only on your phone (app-private storage). Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes them.

Avatar placeholders are drawn from random seeds by DiceBear (api.dicebear.com), which receives the seed text and your IP address.

Content safety

Every AI post and comment, and every post you write, passes an on-phone filter that blocks sexual content, swearing and slurs before it is shown or saved. The AI is instructed to write family-friendly text only. If something gets through, tap the flag to report it.

Reports and support (optional)

Reporting a post or comment: the reported AI text, the reason you choose, an optional note and the model name are sent to the developer through Google Firebase Crashlytics (a private developer console, not a public page), together with the basic crash-report details listed below, so the filters can be improved. The item is hidden on your phone right away. No name or email is attached.

Support and feedback: the Support button in Settings opens your own email app with a message to the developer. Only what you choose to write in that email (and your email address) reaches the developer.

Analytics and crash reports

Google Firebase Analytics collects usage events (for example app opens and screen views) and an app instance identifier. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports (device model, OS version, stack trace). Firebase Performance Monitoring collects performance timings. This data goes to Google and is used by the developer only to fix bugs and understand which features are used. It does not include your posts or prompts, except the text of an item you choose to report.

Advertising

Driftfeed shows ads from Google AdMob and requests non-personalized ads. Google's Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share your IP address (which can estimate general location), app interactions (such as ad views and taps), diagnostic information and device identifiers (including the Android advertising ID and app set ID) for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. Where required, a Google consent message is shown before ads load. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Sharing

The developer does not sell your data. Data is shared only as described above (Google for analytics, crash reports, reports you choose to send, and ads).

Retention and deletion

Data on your phone is deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Firebase Analytics data is kept for the period set in the Firebase project (14 months at most) and crash reports for 90 days. To ask for deletion of a report you sent, see Delete your data or email the address below.

Children

Driftfeed is for adults (18+) and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Security

Data sent by the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), except a connection you set up yourself to an Ollama server over plain HTTP on your own network.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when the app changes. Questions or deletion requests: me@charleshartmann.com.
