The short version
When you play alone, your story never leaves your phone. We don’t see it, store it, or sell it. The app only uses the internet for four things: a one-time setup download, syncing a multiplayer table you join, showing ads to keep the lights on, and securely sending AI content reports you choose to submit.
Solo play — private by design
Everything about your solo games — your hero, your choices, the story the Dungeon Master tells — is made and saved only on your device. No upload, anywhere. After the first quick setup you can play fully offline and nothing about your adventure reaches us or anyone else.
Artificial Intelligence & Content Safety
Arcane Dark uses on-device Artificial Intelligence (Google Gemma via LiteRT-LM) to generate immersive fantasy storytelling and Dungeon Master responses. We enforce strict safety policies aligned with Google Gemma Prohibited Use and Google Play Generative AI guidelines:
- In-App AI Reporting: You can report any inappropriate, offensive, sexually explicit, harmful, or rule-violating narrative at any time by tapping the flag icon on any story card or in Settings → AI Safety & Compliance.
- How Reports Are Handled: When submitted, the reported AI text, category, and your optional notes are securely transmitted to our Cloudflare Worker reporting service (
arcane-dark-reports.charles-h-hartmann1.workers.dev) and stored in encrypted KV storage. - Safety & Moderation: Reports are reviewed strictly by our trust & safety moderation team to improve guardrails and maintain a safe experience for all players. Report data is never sold or used for advertising.
Playing with friends
If you host or join a shared table, the bits needed to keep everyone together — like party stats, where you are on the map, quest progress, and the messages you send at that table — are saved with Google Firebase so friends in your party can see them. This is linked to a simple anonymous account (we never ask for your name or email). It’s kept only as long as your party exists, plus a short window for fixing bugs.
Ads
Arcane Dark shows ads from Google AdMob to support development. AdMob may use your device’s advertising ID to show ads. If you’re in the UK or European Economic Area you’ll see a clear consent screen the first time you open the app, and you can change your choice anytime in Settings → Privacy Choices. We don’t control what AdMob does beyond Google’s own policies.
Crash and speed info
We use Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring to spot bugs and slow spots. They send only technical details — like device model, OS version, app version, and which screen had a problem — never your campaign text or anything you typed to the storyteller.
Children
Arcane Dark isn’t made for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect info from children. Ads are not set up for child-directed use.
You’re in control
- Play solo, offline — nothing leaves your device.
- Flag inappropriate AI content — easily report any output with one tap.
- Change ad choices anytime in Settings → Privacy Choices.
- Delete any hero or campaign with a tap — gone from your device right away.
- Uninstall the app to clear all local data and the setup download.
Account & Data Deletion
In compliance with Google Play’s User Data policies, you have full control over your data and may request permanent deletion of your account and any associated cloud data at any time:
- In-App Deletion: If you are signed into an account, navigate to Settings → Account → Delete Account & Cloud Data to immediately and permanently delete your account credentials and all synced heroes from our servers.
- Web Request Form: You can submit an account and data deletion request online through our dedicated deletion portal: Request Account & Data Deletion →.
- Email Request: You can also email us directly at charles.h.hartmann1@gmail.com with the subject "Arcane Dark Account and Data Deletion Request". Requests are verified and fulfilled within 48 hours.

Each has its own privacy policy for how they handle data.

If this changes in a meaningful way we’ll update the date above and note it on the store listing.
