The Powered by E-Waste sticker

A lot of homelabs start with hardware somebody else was done with: an office mini PC on its way to recycling, a laptop with a cracked hinge, a desktop that got replaced. The Powered by E-Waste Sticker is a badge for that machine.

The design

A round badge: POWERED BY E-WASTE, with the line reclaimed, repurposed, running. It is sized for the lid or the front panel of exactly the machine it describes.

Sizes and price

  • Kiss-cut vinyl sticker
  • 3 x 3, 4 x 4 and 5.5 x 5.5 in
  • $4.50 to $5.50 depending on size, before shipping (Printful calculates shipping at checkout)
  • Printed to order by Printful

Making the old box a reliable one

Old hardware is fine for a homelab. What makes it reliable is the setup around it: backup jobs that cover every guest, storage that does not fill the root disk, and a cluster that does not freeze when one node goes away. Homelab the Right Way covers Proxmox, OPNsense and Home Assistant as the trap, the fix and a checklist for each, and the free sample shows the format.

The sticker is in the merch store with the rest of drop 7 and every earlier design on the merch page.
