Snap it. Know it.
Fieldkey, a new Android app from Hartmann Studios, is now live on Google Play. It identifies plants, rocks, minerals and US coins right on your phone, with no account, no upload and no internet needed.
Three modes in one app
- Plants: about 2,100 wild and garden species, plus 100 popular houseplants and garden plants, with light, water and pet-safety notes.
- Rocks: about 130 rocks, minerals, crystals and gemstones, with hardness, streak, crystal system and simple tests you can do at home.
- Coins: 22 US coin types. Fieldkey also reads the year and mint mark from your photo and flags silver content and well-known key dates.
Honest by design
Every result shows how confident the model is and the next-best matches. When it is not sure, it says so and asks for another angle.
Coin values are only ever given as an estimated range, so check a dealer before you sell anything. Plant safety notes are general information, not medical or veterinary advice. Never eat a plant or mushroom because an app said so.
Private and offline
All identification runs on your phone. Your photos never leave the device. There is no account and no analytics, and it works without a connection.
You can save finds to your collection with the photo, date and your own notes, and share a find card with friends.
Free and Pro
The free version gives you 3 identifications a day, plus one more by watching a short video. Pro removes the limit and the ads and adds collection export. It comes as a monthly or yearly subscription (with a free trial) or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Fieldkey is built on open models and open data: the Google AIY plant classifier, photos from iNaturalist and Wikimedia Commons contributors, and descriptions from Wikipedia and Wikidata.
